Connor Fellowships are awarded to current grad students seeking to make a positive impact on the Art Ed Department here at City College, and on the larger citywide art education community! This post is part of a series introducing Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 Connor Fellows.
Meet Esther Jun, who is supporting the department with a fun logo design contest: YOUR COOL DESIGN HERE!
Hi CCNY Art Ed Friends!
Following two years of remote learning and continuing Covid19 restrictions, fostering a sense of community has become more difficult, YET increasingly necessary. With the aim of renewing and creating old and new connections, we are launching YOUR COOL DESIGN HERE–a department wide wearable goods design contest. The contest will culminate in the production of tangible items–such as t-shirts and tote bags (because who doesn’t love more tote bags!!)–that bring together our students, alumni, and faculty as one community.
All CCNY Art Education Graduate and Undergraduate students, as well as alumni, are welcome to submit designs. The final design will be chosen through a blind virtual voting process by all members of the department, and the final goods will be made in collaboration with a local NYC screen-printing shop.
Submission to YOUR COOL DESIGN HERE, must meet the following criteria. The design must:
- Illustrate one or more of the following values/themes: community, social justice, art education as activism, the artist educator, and NYC art education,
- Include the following text: City College (or CCNY) Art Education,
- Include the following text: @ccnyarted, and
- Be appropriate for screen-printing.
Only one design will be accepted per person.
The deadline for submissions is Sunday, June 26th. The winning design will be announced Monday, July 25th. (Dates subject to change). Submit your design HERE.
YOUR COOL DESIGN HERE is sponsored by the 2022 Connor Graduate Fellowship, awarded to Esther Jun, MA in Art Education ‘23.
