The first session of rotation 2, What Now? students discussed Betsy DeVos and her new role as the Secretary of Education. Teaching artists facilitated a slow read on an article about Betsy DeVos and youth artists brainstormed ways to respond to forthcoming changes to the education system and began sketching out their ideas.
The Culture group explored and discussed their belief of national culture and how their personal or community culture is reflected through the lens of national culture. Through their choice of images and words students will begin creating their poster in reflection and response to their personal culture and identity and how these fit into the greater national culture. City Lab youth artists learned the technique of two image transfer techniques and will combine these two techniques in their poster making.
