Connor Fellowships are awarded to current grad students seeking to make a positive impact on the Art Ed Department here at City College, and on the larger citywide art education community! This post is part of a series introducing Fall 2023 Connor Fellows.
Meet Brianne Simon, who is supporting the department through the project CCNY Arts Ed Press:
The goal of my project is to create connection in our community of awesome arts educators through printmaking. I am excited to make a space for us all to create art together this year! (virtually and on campus) 🙂
- Arts Ed Tote Bag Printing w/ the Arts Ed Club (on campus)
- Saturday Studios Printmaking Workshop – (with the press!) (on campus)
- Arts Ed Print Exchange (virtual)
Arts Ed Tote Bag Printing w/ Arts Ed Club: (on campus)
Next semester (Spring ‘24), I will be running a tote bag printing workshop in collaboration with the Arts Ed Club. We will screen-print beautiful City College Arts Education tote bags together and have an opportunity to personalize them during the workshop (photo transfer, fun stamps, embroidery, patchwork, and more!) Last week, I created the screen with our Arts Ed logo (photo below)!
Saturday Studios Printmaking Workshop – with the press: (on campus)
This Saturday printmaking workshop will allow students in art education, theater education, and alumni an opportunity to experiment using the press we have in the Art Education department (creating monotypes, small linoleum prints, and more!)
Arts Ed Print Exchange: (virtual)
As an opportunity for people to get involved remotely, I hope to run a print exchange/portfolio with an art ed-related theme. Interested artists would make a print and in exchange, receive a beautiful portfolio of prints from all participants. (The theme is open and in progress. I am interested in words/ quotes/ images that uplift the art ed community. Some inspiration: Justseeds and Bread and Puppet portfolios. Feel free to reach out with thoughts and ideas!)
